How so I post a doc to the blog?

Hi Folks!

I enjoyed our first meeting. I'd like to post the Editing Mini-Lesson Assignment and Sample Mini-Lesson. If you have any advice for how to improve this assignment, I'd appreciate it. If you like it and want to use it and/or tweak it for your purposes, please be my guest.

The problem is I don't know how to post it here as an attachment. Please advise.

Oy...am I really ready for this?

  1. Now (I think) I remember one of the reasons that I don't use blogger myself for my course blog!! In many blogging platforms (like edublogs) you can upload docs, but it looks like with blogger you can only upload image or video files. You can *link* to a webpage that's publicly accessible (I don't suppose your assignment is though?)

Of course, you could copy and paste it into a post, but it would be nice to have a section of links to assignments (maybe as a page, so it would stay on the home page). Let me think about it for a bit and do a little exploring...

    (Isn't this fun?!!)

  2. You could add as a page maybe? (I set it up so that all you need to do is go to Edit pages tab, where you'd add a post, and click into it to copy and paste document--you can change title there if you want too. Or even simpler, click on "Editing mini-lesson" in right column, then click on the pencil icon to add/edit content.) The only problem is that we're only allowed ten pages, so it's not a good solution long-term.

If you copied into a post, though, you'd have the advantage that then people could comment/respond.

  3. I believe that you can set up links by within postings, if that makes a difference. You can also add gadgets that contain links.

  4. If she had the assignment available somewhere online, it would be straightforward to add a link in a post or in the sidebar. But I think, if I'm thinking straight, that it's a problem the assignment is a Word document. There doesn't seem to be a way to upload a file--in the text box for a post there only seem to be options to link to web pages, images, and videos. Or am I missing something? (As I said above, I do know you can link to docs in edublogs...)
